Gander International Airport
Gander International Airport
Newfoundland has always played a crucial historic role in aviation. This painting depicts the Newfoundland Airport located in Gander, NL during World War II. There was no town of Gander at the time of construction, only lodging for the workers employed building the airport. In 1938, the airport was completed and, with its four runways, it was the largest on the planet.
The original is on display in the Gander International Airport.
